A Blessed Family Day (07/25/2026)

Last weekend my family gathered together to celebrate the marriage of my grandson, Jacob, to his beloved Stephanie. We began at the church for the marriage ritual then we traveled down the road a bit to lovely venue that featured an air-conditioned barn (thank you, LORD) and beautiful grounds. I looked forward to that gathering for such a long time. And the memories of time spent with my peeps will remain with me.

We gathered together, checked in with one another, caught up on each other’s lives, and shared a meal and time together. We danced. We laughed. We cried. And we celebrated the couple and the great gift their addition to the family was.

Family is a blessing. We don’t choose them. They are never perfect. In fact, families are usually the environment in which we first learn the necessities of patience and forgiveness. And yet, there is a bond there, born of common memories, struggles, and successes.

We on our journeys in faith, hope and love enjoy the blessing of membership in the family of the LORD, daughters and sons of our loving Father Almighty, sisters and brothers in Christ. We go by the name of Christian and share common memories, struggles and successes. And time spent with one another is a blessing. Wherever we are gathered together, our LORD is with us. And we look forward to the ultimate “reunion” gathered together with the LORD at the throne celebrating the heavenly feast.

But we’ve far to go before then and there is much preparation to do in the LORD’s name. Key among them is finding a path to unity and to peace for all the earth, for all our sisters and brothers. Let us spend time today praying for and working for that unity, that coming together as sisters and brothers world wide to form the one family, a united humanity.
