A Light on the Stairway (06/07/2026)

My husband and I are blessed to have the home we have. We actually designed it and had it built for our retirement in 2015. The design would allow us to stay in our home even if we had physical challenges. We had a lower level designed for our hobbies and for our children and grandchildren to hang out when visiting. The lower level has a wide staircase that would allow for a chair lift, but at this time we don’t need it. But, having said that, there is one rule we are trying to keep that involves that staircase – use the light on the stairway and hang onto the rail. Be careful!
The situation reminds me of our journeys of faith, hope and love because it highlights our needs. On our journey, we need the loving illumination of our LORD, Jesus Christ, the Light of the World. Christ, the Word made flesh, not only taught us of the Father but gave us an example of how we are to live, how we are to walk humbly with our LORD. And on our journey, we need stability which we draw from our faith in our ever-present, all-powerful LORD whom we know to be trustworthy and whose promises give us hope. As we journey, walking in the footsteps of our Savior, Jesus Christ, sent to us from the loving Father, we rely upon the guidance and graces given to us in the Spirit. Full of care for our LORD and for our sisters and brothers, we journey.
This past week, as I struggled in darkness with an issue, I needed clarity. And it was the Light of the World, Christ, who brought it to me. As I sat and struggled, I asked out loud for help. And slowly, Christ illuminated my mind with memories of His words and His examples. He is the light we need in our lives when we are unsure of our direction, when we struggle to go forward, when we question our next steps.
Let those of us who long for the LORD and who journey toward life with the LORD in abundance commit to seeking the Light of Christ daily through prayer and study. Let us hold onto our faith, in hope and with love, that throughout our journey we will remain constant and steadfast, disciples of Christ, children of God, temples of the Spirit.
Until tomorrow, let us all love well.
