As We Remember (09/11/2026)

I don’t think I will ever forget. I was sitting in the waiting room of the emergency room because of a knee injury. The television was on. And the news anchor was talking about an accidental plane crash into the World Trade Center. Then another plane flew into the second tower. Before long, there was a report of another attack at the Pentagon. The usually busy and noisy waiting room was completely still as everyone’s eyes were on the screen. And when the first tower began to collapse, we all gasped.

Today is the 25th anniversary of 9/11 and the horrific acts of terrorism committed on that day. I will never forget. Today, as we remember and honor those who died that day and those who rose to fill a need in those hours and days following those attacks, let us take time to turn to the LORD for help.

Let us pray to the LORD to help our hearts carry the weight of that day that changed the world not with hatred but with faith that the LORD was with us on that day, with hope in the promises of our LORD for our loved ones lost, and with love for our brothers and sisters across the globe.

Let us pray to the LORD to help us continue to comfort the families of those who mourn the absence of their loved ones taken that day.

And let us remember how in the face of such senseless actions we came together, one nation under God. Let us pray to the LORD, “Be near us, LORD, and help us to remember and with love and hope work for peace.

Until tomorrow, let us all love well.
