Came to Believe (10/2/2026)

This past week, as we were breaking open the Word at Bible Study, discussing Acts, chapter 4, we were struck by the number of those who came to believe. And I asked those present to take some time to discuss in small group when they “came to believe.” While the vast majority of us there were baptized as infants, we all recognize that is not the same thing as having faith. As the participants discussed their spiritual awakenings, I walked around and ease dropped a bit. There was great sharing happening.

It does us good, much good, I believe, when we take time to share our stories of our faith journeys with others. As I said, the conversations at the small group tables were lively and interesting. Our journeys have one hopeful destination, life in abundance in our LORD, but we don’t all travel the same path at the same pace. Our LORD is a personal LORD and as we personally come to know Him and love Him, we discover that.

Another wonderful thing, I believe occurred that day as we shared stories of our faith journeys, the irony of “faith sharing” – the more we share – the more we have. And then there is the wonder in that when we share, in stirring the memory, our craving for the LORD’s loving presence increases as well.

As we continue our journeys in faith, let us never forget the hope we felt when we found the LORD in our lives. And let us always find ways to share that with others along the way. Sometimes in hearing another’s story, we ourselves see more deeply into our own and marvel at the ways of the LORD that always involve the lengths and depths of a loving relationship.

Until tomorrow, let us all love well.
