Clarity and Charity (06/06/2026)

This has been a difficult week for me personally. I have found myself doing what I do when I am wounded, withdrawing. This morning, as I opened my day with the LORD, I brought it all to Him. And I prayed with all my being for help in finding clarity and charity.
I won’t go into “the what” because I know that is not fair to the others involved who don’t have a voice on this blog. But I am old enough to know that when I am hurt by the actions or words of another, my perspective becomes skewed, and I can misread moments and words. I am also old enough to know that the LORD taught us to love even when it isn’t easy and to forgive. And so, this morning, I begged the LORD to help me see clearly his call to loving forgiveness through the haze of hurt. I begged for clarity.
And I begged the LORD for charity, for that love that can transform where nothing else stands a chance. I begged for the only antidote that will suffice. I begged for it because I need it right now because I feel sorely wanting, depleted. But my life has taught me that He is love, not the roses and card kind of love, but the kind that can change lives and hearts and minds, the kind that can bring purpose to any situation or moment, the kind that can heal even the deepest wound.
As I sat and prayed, I tried to focus on Him and the image that came to my mind’s and heart’s eye was of my Savior upon the cross. I understood that He understands. I sat with that image and then the words came, His words, “Forgive them for they know not what they do.” If one so innocent can forgive, surely, it is possible. And so I sat my hurt at His feet. And then, I just sat for a while.
It felt good to set it down, the hurt. I felt free of its weight and the pain it inflicted on me. He was honest always with us that the journey was not easy. But He was also honest with us that the only fuel that would suffice along His Way was love. And I got the clarity I had sought and felt the love that I needed.
Today is a new day, made new in the LORD. “Behold, I make all things new.” I believe with all my being He can and does, if we let Him.
Until tomorrow, let us all love well.

When someone’s actions or words leave me upset, I remember the saying:
Hurt people hurt people. It helps me to forgive.
God Bless you Kate!
