Scripture Text: Luke 21:29-33

Jesus told his disciples a parable. "Consider the fig tree and all the other trees. When their buds burst open, you see for yourselves and know that summer is now near; in the same way, when you see these things happening, know that the Kingdom of God is near. Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away."

The gospel text for today continues Luke’s account of Jesus’ eschatological discourse just before his arrest, death, and resurrection. Jesus speaks of not only his upcoming paschal mystery but also of the coming of the Son of Man. We focus on the final phrase, “my words will not pass away.”

Do I take time to study the Gospels and to better understand Jesus’ teaching through the help of the Holy Spirit?

Praying:

LORD, Jesus Christ, Son of God, our beloved Savior, we seek You daily as we make our journey in faith, hope and love. Send your Spirit to guide us on our journey, to deepen our faith, to increase our hope, to strengthen our love for You and for one another. Help us to love our sisters and brothers as You loved each of us. Amen.
