Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: February 11, 2024

Date:   Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

 Scripture Text:  1 Corinthians 10:31—11:1

Brothers and sisters,

Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God. Avoid giving offense, whether to the Jews or Greeks or the church of God, just as I try to please everyone in every way, not seeking my own benefit but that of the many, that they may be saved. Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.

Breaking the text open – background and summary:

The second reading for today is taken from Paul’s 1st Letter to the Corinthians. Paul uses this opportunity to remind his readers that we are called to imitate Christ in all our moments, regardless of where we are or whom we are with at the moment. Our lives are the way in which we give glory to God through our love for the LORD and one another.

As I reflect upon this past week, how well am I living the life Christ calls me to live and following His example?

Praying:

LORD, Almighty Father, You sent your only begotten and beloved Son to live among us as our brother. His mission was not only to reconcile us to You and to defeat sin and death, but also to give to us an example of what life focused on love of You looks like, what it can be. Send your Spirit to stir within us the desire to follow Christ’s example and as his disciples to follow in His footsteps, to imitate Him throughout our lives for your glory. We ask this in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Spirit, one LORD, forever and ever. Amen.
