Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: January 20, 2024

 Scripture Text:  Mark 3:20-21

Jesus came with his disciples into the house. Again, the crowd gathered, making it impossible for them even to eat. When his relatives heard of this, they set out to seize him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.”

The very short gospel text for today from Mark reminds us that many doubted Jesus’ identity and authority, even members of his own extended family.

Meditating on the text with personal questions:

Do I deeply and firmly confess that Jesus Christ is the Son of God? Do I believe that Jesus came “so that we might have life and have it abundantly”?

Praying:

LORD, You sent your only begotten and beloved Son to us, Son of God, Jesus Christ. Your love for us and your desire for our salvation and life with You unfolded fully in Jesus’ willing sacrifice upon the cross of Cavalry for our sins. And through Jesus’ resurrection, death was conquered. Send your Spirit to help us wholly and deeply profess Christ as our Savior and follow in His footsteps as His disciples. We ask this in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Spirit, one LORD, forever and ever. Amen.
