Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: July 14,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text:   Matthew 11:20-24

Then Jesus reproached the cities where most of his mighty works were done because they did not repent. “Woe to you, Chorazin. Woe to you, Bethsaida. For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I say to you, it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment than for you. And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, shall be brought down low for if the mighty works which have been done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I say to you, that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment than for you.”

MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:

How have I responded to Christ’s word and to His presence and power in my life? 

BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:

In today’s gospel reading, Jesus reprimands those who have seen His great works and heard His words and not believed and repented.

ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:

LORD, Almighty Father, your beloved and only begotten Son gave His life for mine. And on the third day, He was raised from the dead, victorious over sin and death. Send your Spirit to rouse my whole being to wonder and love in response to your divine will and to His love for You and for me. Grant that I may daily seek to turn wholly to You, LORD. Amen.
