Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: July 19,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text:   Romans 8:26-27

Brothers and sisters, the Spirit comes to the assistance of our weakness, for we do not know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit intercedes with inexpressible groanings. And the one who searches hearts knows the mind of the Spirit because he intercedes for the holy ones according to God’s will.

MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:

Can I set down my “I’ll do it myself” and turn to the Spirit for grace and guidance in my prayer?

BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:

In today’s second reading, we hear Paul urging us to rely upon the Holy Spirit who will lead us in prayer and intercede for us when we find ourselves unable to express our needs, our remorse, and our loving praise.

ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:

Come, Holy Spirit, kindle in me the fire of your love. Read my heart and mind and form within me prayers of praise and love, of petition and contrition, appropriate for me and for the moment. Guide me and grace me so that my prayer may open me to the possibilities that flow from the transformative love of my LORD. Amen.
