Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: June 10,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text:   Matthew 5:17-19

Jesus said, “Do not think that I have come to destroy the law or the prophets. I have not come to destroy but to fulfill. Truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not one letter or part of a letter shall pass from the law until all is fulfilled.  Whoever breaks the least commandments and teaches others to do so shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys and teaches others to do the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”

MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:

Christ came to fulfill the law and the prophets. How well am I keeping the law of love given me by the LORD? Am I passing it on through words and actions?

BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:

Jesus, in His Sermon on the Mount, establishes firmly that He did not come to change the law and the prophets but rather to fulfill them.

ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:

Almighty Father, You sent your only begotten Son to take on our human nature in all ways except sin to reveal more fully your love for us and to demonstrate to us through His life what it means to love the LORD with all our being, mind, heart, soul and strength. And through His sacrifice upon the cross of Calvary, He showed us, too, what it means to love our sisters and brothers. Send your Spirit to stir within us so that we might more perfectly and wholly live the love You shower upon us and the love You call us to for You and for one another. We ask this in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Spirit, one LORD, forever and ever. Amen.
