Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: May 11,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text:   John 15:26-16:4a

(Jesus said to his disciples) “When the Advocate comes whom I will send to you from the Father, the very Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, he shall testify of me. And you also shall bear witness because you have been with me from the beginning.

“These things I have told you that you shall not fall away. They shall put you out of the synagogues. The time is coming when those who would kill you will think that they do God’s service. And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father or me. But these things I have told you so that when the time comes, you will remember that I told you.”

BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:

In today’s gospel text taken from Jesus’ final discourse with His disciples as recorded in the Gospel of John, Jesus prepares His disciples for coming persecutions and promises them the gift of the Holy Spirit, the Advocate, who will empower them to testify about Christ as Savior and Lord.

ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:

 Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, my Savior, send the Spirit to strengthen my faith, to deepen my hope, and to intensify my love so that I might follow You with courage and resolve. Grant that through my actions and my words that I might be a witness to You, your love, and your saving action for all humanity. Remain in me, LORD, and help me to remain in You. Amen.
