Scripture Text:  Romans 13:8-10

Brothers and sisters:

Owe nothing to anyone, except to love one another; for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. The commandments,

You shall not commit adultery;

you shall not kill;

you shall not steal;

you shall not covet,

and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this saying, namely, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Love does no evil to the neighbor; hence, love is the fulfillment of the law.

Breaking the text open – background and summary:

The first reading for today is drawn from Paul’s Letter to the Romans and reminds us that love is the fulfillment of the law. As Paul reminds us, “Love does no evil to the neighbor.”

Meditating on the text with personal questions:

What am I doing daily to build my capacity for love of others?

Praying:

LORD, You are love itself. And You call us to be instruments of your love in our world as we journey home to You. Strengthen us and our resolve to love You with all our being and to love one another. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
