Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: October 2,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text: Psalm 139: 1-3, 7-8, 9-10, 13-14b
R. (24b) Guide me, Lord, along the everlasting way.
O LORD, you have searched me and you know me;
You know when I sit and when I rise;
You understand my thoughts from afar.
My paths and my rest you scrutinize.,
With all my ways You are acquainted.
R. (24b) Guide me, Lord, along the everlasting way.
Where can I go from your spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
If I make my bed in hell, you are present there.
R. (24b) Guide me, Lord, along the everlasting way.
If I take the wings of the morning,
And settle at the farthest limits of the seas,
Even there your hand shall lead me,
And your right hand shall hold me.
R. (24b) Guide me, Lord, along the everlasting way.
For You have created my inmost being;
You wove me in my mother’s womb.
I give you thanks that I am fearfully, wonderfully made;
Marvelous are you works.
R. (24b) Guide me, Lord, along the everlasting way.
MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:
Do I consider the LORDs power and presence everywhere and always for love of me?
BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:
Today on the Feast of the Guardian Angels, the responsorial psalm, Psalm 139, emphasizes the LORD’s power and presence everywhere eternally while underscoring the LORD’s personal involvement in our lives from conception.
ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:
LORD, my God, You know me, every part of me, every part of my character, every moment of my history. And as I trace my time, I find You there, always and everywhere. And it difficult for me to grasp that one so powerful as You would love one so small in the grand scheme of things as me. I praise You, I thank You, I love You. Amen.
CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
