Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: October 4,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text:   Philippians 4:6-9

Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God. And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, whatever is true, whatever is honest, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is good, if there is any virtue and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me. Then the God of peace will be with you.

MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:

Is my first thought during times of stress to turn to the LORD in prayer?

Am I truly and wholly trying to live the life Christ calls me to live?

BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:

In today’s second reading from his letter to the Philippians, Paul offers us the divine remedy for overcoming anxiety through prayer, through thanksgiving, and through living a life modeled after Christ’s and Paul’s.

ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:

LORD, You alone can bring me joy and hope. Help me to look to You always and everywhere, to set down my worries and pick up instead the joy that comes from loving You and being loved by You and the hope that comes with knowing You and your plans for me. Send your Spirit to help me live the life You created me to live, to become the one You call me to be. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
