Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: October 7,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text: Luke 11:1-4
And it came to pass that Jesus was praying in a certain place and when he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, ‘Lord, teach us to pray just as John taught his disciples.” He said to them, “When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be your name, your Kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread and forgive us our sins for we ourselves forgive everyone in debt to us, and do not subject us to the final test.”
MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:
Do I ask Jesus’ help in my prayer? Do I turn to our heavenly Father in praise and being my physical and spiritual needs to Him?
BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:
In today’s Gospel, we hear the disciples ask Jesus to teach them to pray. Jesus teaches them a shorter and more concise form of prayer than Jesus presents in his Sermon on the mount.
ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:
LORD, Almighty Father, You sent your only-begotten Son to us to reveal You and your great love for us and as You willed, He gave His life for ours. Send the Spirit to stir within us daily, to call our minds and hearts to praise for You and thanksgiving for all that is, most especially your beloved Son’s sacrifice that atoned for our sinfulness. Grant that we may daily use our lives in love for You and for our Savior and in service to our sisters and brothers. We ask this in Christ’s name, Amen.
CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
