Early Morning at Kwik Trip (09/3/2026)

It was one of those mornings. I had one of those “craving” moments where all I could do was think about an apple turnover from Kwik Trip. I couldn’t get it out of my mind, try as I might. So, I closed my computer program, got my purse and headed off to the local Kwik Trip. It’s always open, even at unreasonably early hours of the morning.

I was amazed at the activity in that store when I arrived. The best explanation I can give is that it was like a human ant hill, people moving in and out, swarming around the ATM, the bakery items, the cold drink section, and the meals to go section. Clearly, this is the local hub. Who knew?

I picked up my apple turnovers and got into line for check out. I continued to “people watch.” There were men and women, business people, trades people, and retired people, young and old. As I stood and waited my turn, I couldn’t help but think of our life’s real mission, our journey to our LORD, in, with and through our LORD. What would the world be like if we all showed up with all this energy for that mission? What if we all had an irresistible craving for the LORD that we just had to act on?

We can, you know. Our fueling station is our prayer life. We could all begin our day at this true, life-giving and fueling station. It is local, there is nowhere we can go that the LORD is not already there for us. We can bring our lists of needs to the LORD and seek the LORD’s will for us and for those for whom we are praying as well as the grace to cooperate with the LORD’s will this day. And we can taste the only goodness that will ever satisfy our craving, that voice that tells us something is missing, when we take in and savor the love of the LORD for us and allow ourselves to return that love wholly and deeply.

What do you say? Anyone else craving? Shall we try?

Until tomorrow, let us all love well.
