How? (06/23/2025)

This morning, I sat on the porch praying, wondering. I had no ideas for a blog. In fact, the question that has been pestering me for some time visited again this morning. Should I give up the blog? And then at 6:30 a.m. I heard a ping. I turned over my phone and there was a Facebook post from my beautiful niece from more than four years ago. And as I read it, all I could think was “How?”
Seriously, I wondered how this post was sent to me today. It wasn’t an anniversary of the post. Jennie posted her wishes on my birthday in April. What made this post randomly post to me today? To me today while I was trying to discern what to do? I just kept wondering “How?”
And then I realized wholly, deeply, I was asking the wrong question. It wasn’t “How?”, it was “Who?” It wasn’t just my spelling that was off, it was my whole understanding of the power and presence of the LORD at work in my life. And I smiled, looked up and out, and uttered, “Wow.”
My question is answered. I will keep writing. I will keep looking for things along the way that cause me to struggle, things that cause me to stop and think, things that remind me of the whole purpose of the journey. I will keep on writing about those along the journey who share it with me for a bit, those who make it more challenging, those who help me as I strive to meet the challenge. And I will do it because we all are making the journey of faith and sometimes it helps to have another soul beside us, encouraging us.
Today I needed that. Today I got a message out of the blue from a precious and loving niece from years ago. But today that was what I needed. Thank you, Jennie. Thank you, LORD.
Loving and gracious, LORD, be with us as we journey in faith, buoyed by the hope of your promise of being with us, and fueled by your love for us and missioned with bringing that love out into the world and sharing it freely.
Until tomorrow, let us all love well.
