Jimmy Rigging (8/24/2023)

This morning as I tried to post the scripture reflection to this site, I encountered technical difficulties. For some reason, the site would not open for me. I tried my desktop shortcut, then I tried my “favorites.” Then I tried entering the website in google search. And every attempt yielded a white screen. I tried it on my phone. I could get to my blog site on my phone which told me it wasn’t down. But I couldn’t access it on my computer. As I sat and pondered (actually I was more panicking than pondering), it dawned on me to try my “history.” So, I went to yesterday’s history, spotted the blog website, clicked, and it took me there.

I entered the Scripture Reflection with Prayer post, but when I went to post an image for the day, the site would not let me. I don’t know what’s going on, something is, for sure. Hopefully I will figure it out before tomorrow. As it is now, the post with a black screen will be a permanent reminder that things can go wrong. Jimmy rigging is like that. It will get you where you want to go, but usually it is obvious that it wasn’t the preferred route.

Prayerful perseverance is the key; it will open the door eventually. This morning isn’t the first time in my life I have had to “jimmy rig” a solution. It happens to me with great frequency. I do sometimes raise it in prayer, asking the LORD why things have to be so difficult. I get the impression that this is a test at times to see just how committed I am. That’s fair.

So, if in your lifetime you’ve experienced a malfunction or two and had to jimmy rig a solution, I know you will understand today’s posts. I know that if you’ve been on “the Way” with Christ, you’ll also understand that it isn’t always easy, and solutions don’t always come at lightning speed. With prayer and perseverance, the Spirit will bring us around and help us maneuver the course, but it isn’t always pretty.

As we continue on “the Way” with Christ and one another, let us seek to do our best, to bring all our love to bear upon the moment, to invoke the Spirit, and to keep our eyes on Christ.
