Message for the Future (05/03/2025)

Recently, I was asked to write a letter to another that would be opened in five years. I really had to think about it. What would I put in it? What would be my advice? What could I bring to the other that would inspire or motivate? I found myself focusing on the truths that are timeless, and at the top is that there is a LORD and the LORD loves us.

During this season of Easter, that LORD and that love is center stage. It is good for us to really spend time reflecting on it and taking it personally. It is good for us to personalize it. What does this mean to me? What does this mean for me?

Because of this letter assignment, I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking about those last two questions.

What does this mean to me? Is everything too much? I mean really, acknowledging the existence of our LORD means everything. It gives purpose to everything. It makes we ask question #2. How about you? What does the acknowledgement of the LORD mean to you?

What does this mean for me? My acknowledgment of the LORD is the beginning. It colors everything that comes after that. There is a LORD and it is not me. Immediately, I realize the need for humility. And when I recognize the LORD’s love as the source and reason for creation, it colors how I see myself. I was created from love with a purpose which must include love. And I think of the crucifix. And I realize love doesn’t always look like what we think it does. But love always makes a difference. How about you? What does it mean for you?

As we continue our observance of Easter during this season, let us use the time to reflect on how our lives are changes because of Christ’s love for us? How are our lives changed because the Father willed that Son redeem us so that we might share in their life for all eternity? What does it mean for me day to day? How would another know that I know the LORD, Father, Son, and Spirit? What am I doing that would suggest that I am striving to live as they command? Who am I that others would feel the LORD’s love in me, with me and through me?
