Monday Mornings (10/12/2026)

I love Monday mornings. Stretching before me is a week full of potential, a new beginning. How will the world be different when I turn out the lights tonight? What will my role have been in that difference?
As I open the day, I sit in prayer knowing that is my compass, my relationship with the LORD is where I start every day and every week. “Know yourself,” my dad used to tell me. I know that without the LORD, I will never be myself nor reach my God-given potential. Indeed, time spent with the LORD is a necessity on Monday mornings.
As a child, I was taught that my life was a gift from the LORD. What I made of that life, I was also taught, was my gift in return. The thought of being able to give a gift back to the LORD has never ceased to appeal to me. This morning I ponder “my gift.” I know that I’ve work yet to do. And I know I need the LORD’s Spirit to guide me, grace me, and open me fully to the potential the LORD has woven within me.
This day, as we begin another week in the LORD, let us consider the gifts the LORD has given to us that we pick up often without thought: our very lives, time, the companionship of others, the world in which we live, and a love that can inform us, conform us, and transform us. Let us begin our week’s journey and work in the LORD’s presence, seeking the LORD’s direction. Let us pick up the tools for the journey the LORD offers us: faith, hope, and love.
Let us go forth, adding to the gift we bring with us as we journey, our very selves. Let us be open to the LORD’s touch and grateful for the LORD’s power and presence always at work in our lives.
Until tomorrow, let us all love well.
