Last evening, my family began to arrive for Easter. We decided to go the local family restaurant to eat supper. As we sat, waiting for our food to arrive, my youngest grandson popped up from his chair, walked to mine, and handed me his phone with delight, telling me, “Watch this!” And immediately, a video appeared depicting a little boy asking Jesus why bad things happen to people. And my joy at his gift matched his joy in showing me. Jesus lives.
I don’t know why my grandson knew of a video depicting Jesus teaching. I do know how much it meant to me that he did and that he shared it with me. My joy yesterday matched my joy when my oldest grandson and his wife announced that they wanted to be married in the church. Knowing Christ brings me great joy. Knowing those I love know Christ is joy to the 2nd power.
Today is Easter. Today we commemorate Jesus’ victory over sin and death. Today we recall the apostles who gave witness to Jesus and who call us to do the same. Today is a day of joy.
May the wonder of the LORD’s love for us all and the understanding of the lengths the LORD will go to to bring us to life with Him surround us and fill us. May joy be in our hearts as we remember, we celebrate, and we believe.
Have a blessed and joyous Easter.
Until tomorrow, let us all love well.
