One Thing Leads to Another (07/01/2026)

This morning, as I sat on my porch, sipping my coffee and bringing in my day with the LORD, I admit that I mentioned to Him my discomfort because of the heat and the stillness and the humidity. When I was done, I read a friend’s post and it mentioned kites. And I thought of kites, then I remembered my days flying kites with my kids, and the cool breezes and the fun we all had. And I swear, before I knew it, a breeze blew through my porch, my hanging plants swung on their hooks, and the temp seemed tolerable suddenly. It’s amazing what happy thoughts can change.
Many of my favorite memories revolve around conversations with my sister, Betty, and our happy memories. It didn’t matter if we were together on her porch or separated by hundreds of miles, speaking on the phone, the happy memories would lead to more memories, and the days would turn brighter. It was something we did – remembering the blessing along the way – that made the present more tolerable.
We all carry our crosses if we are truly Christ’s followers, some are visible, most are not. We all journey in a world that isn’t always hospitable or even comfortable. Challenges and even hardships are part of the journey and expected to some degree. But when we can take a moment to remember the blessings, to savor them, to allow the essential knowledge that comes with them – that we are loved and that we are not alone in this – even the most challenging is doable.
As we journey in faith, we go with hope because the One who made the promise is trustworthy. And we go forth fueled by love we receive even before we stir in the womb, a love that comes not because of our merit but because of the LORD’s very being and nature. And when we encounter those tough times, let us use our memories of past blessings to lead us through. We may experience our own Fridays, but our memory reminds us that Sunday is coming. And one thing leads to another…and all things can lead to Him if we are open.
Until tomorrow, let us all love well.
