Our Story (06/10/2024)

Last week, with my mother, sister, niece and great nieces visiting, stories flowed. Isn’t it wonderful when families gather that we re-tell our stories and remember together how we came to be who we are at this point. My mother, especially, shared with the younger generations how she came to marry my father, their early life challenges, and their travels. And each generation gleans something from the stories that we claim as part of our own.

It’s one of the things I love about our faith. We tell our story. Our scriptures are full of our story. The lives of the saints add to our story. And one of the most powerful ways we can continue the tradition is faith sharing, sharing with one another moments from our journey, moments of awakening, moments of spiritual struggle, moments of spiritual heights, moments along the way when others helped us, moments when it was our turn to love another well. I learned years ago that we are “saints in the making.” Sharing our story and how we have come to know, love, and serve Christ are part of our discipleship.

In this day and culture, sharing our faith openly isn’t always easy. However, we are reminded by our savior that we are to deny ourselves, pick up our crosses, and follow in our Savior’s footsteps. Jesus never took the easy road. So, we shouldn’t be surprised, if we are following in His footsteps, that our road is challenging, too. We are called to share the journey not just by silently walking along side of another, though this is sometimes what we are to do, but also by sharing our own experiences, our own faith, and how the LORD has touched us, informed us, stirred the desire within us to conform ourselves to Him, and totally

transformed us from the inside out.

Let us seek this day and all days to share our faith by sharing our story.
