As my daughter and I were enjoying our final evening with family in Iowa, I happened to look up and there it was – the most stunning sunset! It caused me to stop, take it in, give praise and thanksgiving. How does the LORD do it, especially when least expected?
As I stood and took in this beauty, I wondered how often the LORD had put on such displays and I didn’t even notice, I didn’t look up, I didn’t look out beyond my immediate surroundings. I do believe with all my mind, all my mind, all my heart and all my being that the LORD is and that the LORD manifests Himself in a myriad of ways. The question isn’t if the LORD is there. The question is rather, “Will we notice?”
Today as you begin another adventure we call a day, make up your mind to look about you, to take in what is happening all around you. Often times the LORD’s presence is there is we but look up, look out, look around. And let us resolve that when the LORD’s power and presence and majesty and might take our breath away, let us pause to give praise and thanksgiving. After all, this is the month of giving thanks and who better to thank than the LORD without whom we would not be and without whom we will never thrive nor experience life in abundance.
Look up. Who knows what you may find!
Until tomorrow, let us all love well.
