There’s Full and Then There’s FULL (11/27/2023)

This week is FULL. Life is like that; don’t you know. There are full weeks and then there are FULL weeks. This is Cookie Walk week at our parish, and as the chair of the organization, the Council of Catholic Women, it’s sort of my responsibility to make sure we have what we need every step of the way. I have lists everywhere because I’m afraid of forgetting something. But I also have the blessing of so very many who are helping out with publicity, with baking, with setting up, with doing all the things necessary to ensure that it will be a great day. So, this is a FULL week, indeed. It is FULL of needs, but also FULL of gracious and generous and talented and loving individuals who are working together. I just love FULL weeks.

I love it when a community “shows up.” When everyone contributes according to their ability: some volunteer their time, some their talents, some their treasure. Each gift is valued; each gift matters. And the rewards exceed expectations usually with goals met but also new friendships formed and the community strengthened. Laughter usually punctuates these FULL times. What’s not to love about FULL weeks.

I hope and pray that our FULL week is blessed. That we stop along the way to give thanks not only to those who are helping but also to the LORD in whom we all live and move and have our being. I hope and pray that we not only “sell out” all the beautiful cookies and candies, but that all who come to participate feel blessed with their purchases and blessed for having been a part of this fun activity for a good cause.

And so, it should be no secret that today, as I begin my FULL week, I started it with the LORD. One always wants to start there, you know. I prayed for myself, that I would have the energy but also the vision needed to get us all to the finish line. I prayed for all those who would be sharing their time, talent, and treasure with the community. I prayed that throughout the week that we would all act as the ones we are created to be and called to be. I prayed that we would be aware at all times of the LORD’s blessings upon our endeavor and be grateful. “Be with us, LORD.”
