UPSIDE DOWN

I pride myself in being adaptable and persistent. I welcome challenges most of the time because I feel there are lessons to be gleaned from them. But this morning I was gifted with a challenge I wasn’t quite ready to handle without more coffee and a ton more dexterity. When I turned on my computer to write, everything was upside down. My home screen was upside down. My mouse worked the opposite of what it looked like so if I needed to go up visually, I needed to actually move my mouse down. After several minutes of trying to cope with this early morning gift, I decided that the best way to cope was to shut it all down and pray that after two minutes, my computer would wake up “right.” My plan worked; thank you, LORD.

As I sit to write today’s blog, now that my screen is normal again, I can laugh about it. I am filled with questions such as “Why?” and “How should I have fixed it?” But it reminds me about the reason I started the blog. Life is challenging. It comes with difficulties; it doesn’t always go as planned or wished. It requires that we apply ourselves and the gifts the LORD has given us. And in all situations, it necessitates our reliance on the LORD through prayer and through cooperation with the Spirit’s guidance. It is made easier at times, most of the time, by the companionship of others on the same journey.

As we journey forward this day, let us commit to prayerfully dealing with that which we encounter. Let us commit to prayerfully engaging the challenges that come our way and employing all the many graces and gifts the LORD has given to us including the companionship and gifts of others. Let us remember that the LORD is with us regardless of where we are and what we face.

Sometimes, things are upside down. Sometimes you’ll have that. But always, we are called to meet the challenges as the children of the Father Almighty, as the disciples of Jesus Christ, allowing the Spirit to guide us.
