A Superpower (10/23/2025)

As I child, I dreamt of being gifted with a superpower. I felt it was the only way I was ever going to break out of my niche of ordinary or even invisible. Yep, I wanted a cape. As I grew older, I realized that the superpowers of the cinema and comic books were imaginary, but I must admit I still sort of secretly dreamt of what it would be like if only I could be so gifted.
Thankfully, I’m not a done muffin. I continue to learn daily; I continue to let the LORD inform me. And this week, I was blessed to see modern day superpowers in action. I observed as a gentle and caring woman’s touch brought comfort and healing to another in pain. I watched as a gentleman’s extended hand to a woman struggling to stand up brought a smile of appreciation and even of recognition and acceptance. I witnessed an older child cradling a younger child who was wailing after a skinned knee. There were no capes. But the superpowers of love, kindness, and compassion are active in our world.
And it got me to thinking. We who follow Christ have a superpower; it is Christ and His love. We are carriers. And if we allow Christ to work through us and in us, His power can do amazing work. If we can bring our love of Christ and our love for everyone He died to save to every moment of our days, if we can apply that love to the needs of others we encounter in the moments of our day, the world could be a different place. And isn’t that the purpose of a superpower – to bring goodness into the world?
What do you think? What difference could we make, we ordinary folks with an extraordinary Savior’s love? How could we change the world daily? No capes needed. Just love of the LORD and love for one another. The Spirit will gift us for the moment and guide us through if we will merely accept the gifts, graces, and guidance.
How could we change the world if the first thing on our to do list daily was to pray to the LORD for grace to live this day from Him, through Him, and in Him. How could we change the world if the second thing on our list daily was to love the LORD by loving those whom He put in our path? How could we change the world?
Until tomorrow, let us all love well.
