LECTIO - Read Scripture Text:   Acts 4:1-12

As Peter and John spoke to the people (after the curing of the lame man), the priests, the captain of the temple guard, and the Sadducees confronted them. Troubled by their teaching of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead, they laid hands on them and detained them until the next day since it was already evening. But many who had heard their word believed, and the number of men was about five thousand.

The following day, the rulers, elders and scribed along with Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John and Alexander and many others gathered together at Jerusalem. And they asked the two when they were brought to them, “By what power or what name have you done this?”

Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders of Israel, if we are being questioned about the good deed done to the lame man and by what means he was made whole, be it known to you all and to all the people of Israel, that it was by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead. It is only by Him that this man stands before you whole. This is the stone which the builders rejected that has become the cornerstone. There is salvation in no other name, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we can be saved.”

MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:

“By what power or what name have you done this?”

Filled with the Spirit

“There is salvation in no other name”

ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:

O my Jesus, you are the Savior who has given your blood and your life for me,I pray You write your adorable name on my poor heart;so that having it always imprinted in my heart by love,I may also have it always on my lips, by invoking it in all my necessities. If the devil tempts me, Your name will give me strength to resist him;if I lose confidence, Your name will animate me to hope;if I am in affliction, Your name will comfort me, reminding me of all You endured for me.If I find myself cold in Your love, Your name will inflame me,

reminding me of the love You have shown me.I have fallen into so many sins, because I did not call on You;In the future, Your name shall be my defense, my refuge, my hope,

my only consolation, my only love.So do I hope to live, and so do I hope to die, having Your name always on my lips.
