Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: August 15,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text:   Luke 11:27-28

And it came to pass that as Jesus was speaking, a certain woman from those gathered lifted her voice and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that bore you and the breasts at which you nursed.” He replied, “Rather, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it.”

MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:

How well am I living and keeping the word of God?

BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:

Jesus’ response to the woman’s exclamation is not a rejection of his mother, Mary, but rather stressing that she is blessed not because of familial lines but because of her embrace of the word of God and her life lived in surrender to the will of God.

ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:

LORD, Almighty Father, Beloved Son, Most Holy Spirit, quiet my mind and heart and soul so that I may hear your voice to my core. Grant that I may fully embrace your word and your will for me within that word and give me the strength to live out your word moment to moment. Amen.

CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
