Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: August 26,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text:   2 Thessalonians 3:6-10, 16-18

We command you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to withdraw yourselves from every brother who walks in a disorderly way rather than following the tradition received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to follow us because we were not disorderly when we were among you. Neither did we eat another’s bread, but rather labored night and day so that we would not be a burden to any of you. Not that we do not have the right. Rather, we desired to present ourselves as a model for you so that you might imitate us. In truth, when we were among you, we taught you that if anyone was unwilling to work, that one should not eat.

Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all. This greeting is in my own hand, Paul’s. This is the token in every letter; this is how I write. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with all of you.

MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:

Do I daily seek to follow in Christ’s Way as modeled by the early apostles? Am I lazy? Or am I daily striving to do what I can?

BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:

Paul reminds us to conduct ourselves always according the Christ’s way as modeled by the early apostles. And He warns against laziness and idleness. Lastly, he leaves us with prayer for our peace in Christ.

ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:

LORD, God of loving power and presence, stir within us to strengthen our desire to live in obedience to your will for us, laboring faithfully for your Kingdom to come. Fill us and our families and communities with your peace and transformative grace. Amen.
