Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: August 31,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text: 1 Corinthians 2:1-5
When I came to you, declaring to you the testimony of God, I came not with excellent speech or human wisdom. For I resolved not to know anything while with you except Jesus Christ crucified. And I was with you in weakness and in fear and trembling. And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of human wisdom but rather in demonstration of the Spirit and of the power so that your faith should not stand on the wisdom of men but rather the power of God.
MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:
Am I able to set aside my human pride and rely entirely on the saving power of my LORD?
BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:
Paul speaks to us today about the true power of the Gospel, namely the saving power of Christ’s sacrifice for our redemption and the grace of the Holy Spirit working on the conversion of souls. As Paul reminds us, it is not to the credit of any preacher or apostle but rather it is the power of God.
ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:
Heavenly Father, your love for me astounds me. That You would will that your only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ, selflessly give himself for me, a sinner, powerfully underscores for me my reliance upon You, upon your love, upon your mercy, upon your power. Send your Spirit to awaken more fully in me so that I might through your power bring the gospel to others. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
