Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: July 22,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text:   Psalm 63:2-6, 8-9

O God, you are my God, early will I seek You;

My soul thirsts for You, my flesh longs for You

Like the earth, dry and without water.

I look to you in the sanctuary

To see your power and your glory.

Your kindness is greater than life.

My lips shall ever give You glory.

I will bless You while I live;

Lifting up my hands, I will call upon your name.

My soul shall be satisfied as with a rich banquet.

And with joyful lips my mouth will praise You.

You are my savior indeed.

And in the shadow of your wings I shout for joy.

My soul clings to You tightly.

Your right hand upholds me.

MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:

Do I acknowledge my reliance upon the LORD daily?

BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:

Today’s psalm is so appropriate for the feast of St. Mary Magdalene who understood mystical love and spiritual longing because of her unique journey with Christ. The psalm reminds us of our ultimate goal as human beings – existence in union with our LORD.

ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:

My soul is thirsting for You, O LORD, my God. Only with You will I be whole and holy. Only in You will I find joy and loving peace. Hold me LORD. Amen.

CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
