LECTIO - Read Scripture Text: Psalm 71:1-8
In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust;
Let me never act shamefully.
Deliver me in your righteousness,
And bring me into security.
Incline your ear to me,
And save me.
Be my strong dwelling place,
Where I may continually enter in.
You have given your commandments to save me;
For you are my rock and my fortress.
Deliver me, O my God,
Out of the hands of the wicked,
Out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel.
For You are my hope, O LORD,
You are my trust from my youth.
By You have I been held birth;
You are He that brought me from my mother’s womb;
My praise shall be continually of you.
I am as a wonder unto many;
But You are my strong refuge.
Let my mouth be filled with your praise
And with your honor all the day.
MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:
“put my trust” – reliance, dependence, confidence
“rock” – “fortress” – “strong dwelling place” – abiding strength
“Praise” and “honor” – is my life a testament to others of the greatness of God?
ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:
LORD, always and everywhere, You are there for me, from my conception until this moment. Send your Spirit to rouse me to faith, to increase my hope, to intensify and deepen my love for You. Grant that I may live my life in the shadow of your great and transformative love and that I may use my life to give You that which You desire, loving You with all my strength and being. Amen.
CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
