LECTIO - Read Scripture Text:   John 15:9-11

“As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love, even as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you so that my joy might remain in you and that your joy might be complete.”

MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:

BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:

In today’s gospel reading, Jesus stresses the necessity of us abiding in Him as our Lord. He calls us to obey his commandments mirroring his obedience of the Father’s commandments. Jesus promises us joy if we do.

ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, stand before You this day aware of your love for us and striving to follow in your footsteps, to keep your commandments of love. Send your Spirit to stir within us so that we may more fully love as You call us to: to love the LORD with all our being and to love one another as we love ourselves. May your joy be complete in our striving, mind, body and soul to love You, ourselves, and one another. Amen.
