Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: October 20,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text: Ephesians 2:12-22
At that time, you were without Christ, aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have become near by the Blood of Christ. For he is our peace, he made both one and broke down the dividing wall of enmity between us, through his flesh, abolishing the law of commandments contained in ordinance, that he might create in himself one new person in place of the two, thus establishing peace and reconciling both with God, in one Body, by the cross, putting that enmity to death by it.
He came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near, for through him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. Now therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but you are fellow citizens with the holy ones and members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the capstone. Through him, the whole structure is held together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord; in him you also are being build together into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.
MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:
Do I sometimes wander without Christ?
BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:
In today’s first reading from the Letter to Ephesians, we are reminded of the division between Jew and Gentile that was destroyed by Christ on the cross. Christ destroyed the previous enmity and created one body, the living body of Christ, united in faith, bolstered by hope in Christ, and our love bound together with Christ forms a “living dwelling place” for God in the Spirit.
ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:
LORD, Almighty Father, send the Spirit to guide us so we never lose sight of Christ and follow in His footsteps. Grant that we may be filled with the peace that comes only when we are with You and the Son and the Spirit. Keep us from wandering away, from becoming strangers to You and your love through our own choices. Take away our divisions, especially those against Israel and the Jewish people. In the name of Jesus we pray. Be our peace and our cornerstone. Amen,
