Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: October 15,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text: Ephesians 1:1-10
Paul, an Apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, to the holy ones at Ephesus and the faithful in Christ Jesus. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who has blessed us in Christ with all spiritual blessing in the heavens. He chose us in Him, before the foundation of the world, to be holy and without blemish before him. In love he destined us for adoption to himself through Jesus Christ, according to the pleasure of his will. For the praise of the glory of his grace, he accepted us in the beloved.
In Christ we have redemption by his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accord with the riches of his grace. In all wisdom and insight, he has made known to us the mystery of his will in accord with his pleasure that he set forth in him as a plan for the fullness of times, to gather together in one all things in Christ, in heaven and on earth.
MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:
Am I open fully to the grace and peace that flow from my Heavenly Father and my Savior, Jesus Christ? Do I fathom the gift of this grace and peace knowing there is nothing I could do to earn it or merit it?
BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:
In today’s first reading from Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians, Paul emphasizes to us that are called to be holy ones, set apart in Christ. We did not merit this; we did not earn it. It is a gift from the Father through Christ. Then Paul prays a hymn of praise to the LORD through whom we have received all spiritual blessings and in whom we are destined for adoption as daughters and sons. Paul reminds us that our redemption is through the blood of our Savior, Jesus Christ, because of the LORD’s divine mercy and his will that all things be gathered together in Christ.
ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:
Heavenly Father, I praise You , God and Father of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In awe and thanksgiving, I hold the truth that You chose me in Him to be holy in your sight because of your great love. Through Him, redemption comes to us; through His blood, our sins are washed away. He came to reveal You more fully as the living Word of God and He also revealed to us the ones we are created to be and called to be. LORD, send the Spirit to stir within me, to tenderize my heart and soul to make me more receptive to your transformative love. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
