Scripture Text: Ps 19:2-3, 4-5

R. (2a) The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament proclaims his handiwork. Day pours out the word to day, and night to night imparts knowledge. R. The heavens proclaim the glory of God. Not a word nor a discourse whose voice is not heard; Through all the earth their voice resounds, and to the ends of the world, their message. R. The heavens proclaim the glory of God.

Today’s responsorial psalm reminds us that the heavens “declare the glory of God.” And we know it is so; the LORD’s handiwork is, indeed, evident and demands our notice. This time of year, as we look about us at the beauty of nature and realize the depth and breadth of the divine creativity, how can we respond any way other than awe, praise, and wonder.

Meditating on the text with personal questions:

Do I consider the LORD’s power and presence, drawing upon what I can see in the world? Do I offer praise and thanksgiving for what I cannot help but observe?

Praying:

LORD, the wonder of your creation fills us with awe as we take in the changes of the seasons, the beauty of the natural order. We humbly offer You our praise and in wonder lift up our voices in thanksgiving, recognizing that we ourselves are part of your creation. Help us to seek within us your presence, the goodness, the love that call us to You as your daughters and sons. Make of us faithful and loving disciples as we journey to life in You. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be world without end. Amen.
