Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: September 19,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text:   1 Corinthians15:35-37, 42-49

Someone may say, “How are the dead raised up? With what kind of body do they come back?” You fool! What you sow is not brought to life unless it dies. And what you sow is not the body that is to be but a bare grain, perhaps wheat or some other kind.

So also, is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown corruptible; it is raised incorruptible. It is sown dishonorable; it is raised glorious. It is sown weak; it is raised powerful. It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual one.

So, too, it is written, “The first man, Adam, was made a living being.” The last Adam, a life-giving spirit. But the spiritual was not first; rather, the natural and then the spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthly; the second man is the Lord from heaven. As was the earthly one, so also are the earthly, and as is the heavenly one, so also are the heavenly. Just as we have borne the image of the earthly one, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly one.

MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:

Do I trust the LORD in the seasons of my life?  Do I believe in the LORD’s promise of “life – life in abundance”?

BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:

In today’s first reading, we hear St. Paul explain the resurrection of the body by using the analogy of a seed sown that in dying gives new life, fuller life. Paul also contrasts the first man, Adam, with Christ, the Son of Man – Son of God. In Christ, we recognize the life-giving spirit from heaven.

ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:

LORD, I look to You in faith, in hope in your promise of life in abundance, in love for You and a desire to be the one You created me to be and the one Jesus gave His life to redeem. Send the Spirit to help me in my weaknesses, to draw me closer to You and closer to the life-giving spirit of Christ. Grant that with love and through your mercy, I may one day bear the heavenly image of your Son, Jesus Christ, in whose name I pray. Amen.
