Scripture Text: Colossians 1:21-23
Brothers and sisters:
You once were alienated and hostile in mind because of evil deeds; God has now reconciled you in the fleshly Body of Christ through his death, to present you holy, without blemish, and irreproachable before him, provided that you persevere in the faith, firmly grounded, stable, and not shifting from the hope of the Gospel that you heard, which has been preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, am a minister.
Breaking the text open – background and summary:
In the first reading for today, we find the next text in our reading of Paul’s Letter to Colossians. In this reading, Paul reminds us that while we are born into a sinful world, through Christ’s love and sacrifice, we who believe in Him and give ourselves to Him and His “way”, will share in His life if we remain grounded and stable in our faith, hope, and love.
Meditating on the text with personal questions:
What am I doing daily to remain in Christ? To stay grounded and stable in my faith?
Praying:
LORD, Jesus Christ, Son of God, our Savior, Lamb of God, You take away the sins of the world, send the Spirit to help us embrace your loving sacrifice and allow it to transform us. Grant that the Spirit will assist us in adhering to your “way” and living your “truth” so that we might live a life of abundance with our Almighty Father, through You, and in the Spirit. Amen.
