Meanwhile (01/14/2025)

Sorry. I got distracted. I’m not as “laser focused” as I was when I was younger. Little things can distract me for hours, and meanwhile, others are waiting. Sorry.

I’ve had so many “meanwhile” moments in my life. How about you? Do you get distracted like I do? Do you tell yourself you’re going to do something for “just a few minutes” and then two hours later realize that meanwhile you’ve missed a deadline or failed to fulfill a promise or worse yet worried someone who’s been waiting for you? I’ve done all of the above a time or two.

Time is a gift, and as with all gifts, it needs to be stewarded well. This morning, I am afraid I didn’t do such a good job on stewarding my time. I think my fourth-grade teacher would have said, “Kathleen, you’re going down the rabbit hole again.” Yep, I have a history of getting distracted, really distracted.

Sometimes, however, the distractions are not so much a waste of time as they are a “re-direction.” This morning was an example of that. This morning, as I was seeking divine assistance or inspiration for something to write about today in the blog, I happened upon a book I’d been given to read. I picked it up, intending to only get a feel for what it contained. I’m afraid I got in and couldn’t get out. But that’s a good thing because its message was one I needed. It reminded me that my time is a gift.

So, for those of you who were worried about me, I am sorry. For those who were irritated because the blog wasn’t there when you checked, I am sorry. Truly, I am. To everyone, meanwhile, I wish and pray that when providence distracts you, you are capable of being redirected by the Spirit and discovering something the LORD desires you to find. Life is like that sometimes.

Until tomorrow, let us all love well.
