News – Good and Bad (03/18/2026)

Sorry about the lateness of my post this morning. I’m under the weather, so to speak, with some type of upper respiratory thing. I managed to get my scripture reading and reflection done first thing but then struggled with getting back for this post. As I was explaining it to my husband, the cough is persistently irritating, and it is worse when I try to speak. And he got a little smile when I told him that. Yep, there’s a silver lining to my malady. There will be more silence for the near future.

As I reflected on that interaction, I had to admit that most people’s lives and worlds have a combination of good and bad simultaneously. That’s part of life. We, on the way, following in Christ’s footsteps must work to develop the vision He has and the compassion that comes from that vision. A couple days ago, the gospel reminded us of Jesus’ encounter with the man suffering for over 30 years with an infirmity. Jesus’ compassion for his suffering was immediate. He saw the man. He recognized the suffering. He asked, “Do you want to be made whole?”

We have Christ. We can bring Him to every situation and seek to follow His teachings and His example wherever we go and whatever we encounter. We are called to bring Christ with us as we open ourselves to Him and to be used by Him in His ongoing mission in the world. But we have to accept that in this world, good and bad exist side by side, in the same place, at the same time. We are tasked with cooperating with the good from the LORD and combating and not surrendering to the bad.

And when we ourselves are suffering, we can bring our need to Christ. He cares. He sees us. He wants us to be whole, and it begins with seeing Him and opening ourselves to Him. Let us remember on our journey that we are called to bring the Good News of Christ with us wherever we go.

Until tomorrow, let us all love well.
