This morning, as I sit in beautiful and sunny Lake Mills, Wisconsin with an expected high of 78, it would be so easy to not think beyond this space and this time. But this morning, beyond my horizon, across the country, there are many reeling from the storm that ravaged the southeast for the last two days. And across the world there are ravaging wars being waged in Ukraine and the Middle East. Two centuries ago, I would not have known this; today I do because of technology. And I find I can’t ignore what is even though I can’t see it or hear it.
And I ask all who are reading this today to stop what you are doing and spend some time praying for those in harm’s way. Pray for the victims of hurricane Helene and the storms that have impacted so many and taken the lives of scores of our sisters and brothers. Pray for the citizens of Ukraine who are struggling to survive in their war-torn country. Pray for those embroiled in the war Israel is fighting to exist. Pray for those caught in the middle. Pray for the transformation of hearts and minds that bring solutions other than war. And pray for us because we are one family of the LORD and what hurts one of us hurts us all.
Today, my message is simply pray. Pray that the LORD will help us find our way.
Until tomorrow, let us all love well.
