Prayers for Addison (03/07/2026)

This week’s soup supper brought people from all over to enjoy the free fare with friends and to provide an environment of mutual concern. I watched as people introduced themselves to strangers next to them and shared not only the nourishment for their bodies but also for their souls.

Late in the supper, my husband arrived and I stepped aside from my chores and went to have supper with him. We sat down across from a woman I know and love and her daughter whom I’d never met. We chatted as we ate about a host of topics. As I was standing to leave, she reached out and asked if I would do her a favor and pray for her grandson. I responded, “Do you mean pray for Addison?” She looked at me puzzled. I could tell she wondered how I knew his name. I explained to her that her mother had asked several of us to pray for her great grandson, Addison, and we’d been doing just that. And the woman’s face lit up. Then I told her I would, we all would keep praying for Addison.

This grandmother’s joy at knowing her grandson was being thought of and prayed for stayed with me. It still is. And I continue to pray for Addison and all those who are serving with him in the military around the world right now. And I ask that you join me, that you lift up Addison in your prayer and ask for his protection and safety and the protection of safety of all those who are serving beside him around our globe.

As we continue our journeys of faith, buoyed by hope and fueled by love, let us not lose sight of the one of the most powerful gifts the LORD has given to us, the power of prayer, loving prayer, prayer of concern for another. Let us commit to praying for those whom we know are struggling with health, with life, with challenges, in danger, and in need of loving thought and kindness. We cannot be everywhere, but we can be present, seeing the needs around us, and offer loving prayers for one another along the way.

Prayers are powerful. Prayers matter because they use the only lasting currency in this world, they use love. Let us pray up.

Until tomorrow, let us all love well.
