Yesterday, I got two emails from myself titled “Thanks for getting in touch.” My husband asked me about the two he received that day as we were getting ready to watch our traditional Saturday night movie. That’s when it dawned on me that all my regular readers might have received the same emails. Sadly, none of them were from me.
How’d that happen? Beats me. As I have mentioned a few times, the platform I use for my website has been acting a bit wonky lately. I can’t explain it. I can’t seem to fix it. If I was paranoid, I’d be on the verge of believing it’s out to get me. Thankfully, I’m not thinking that. But it could make one wonder which it has.
Sometimes things go awry. We may try our best to avoid that happening, giving our best as best we can only to have something or someone beyond our control do something that changes the outcome for which we’d worked so hard. I learned years ago to accept that sometimes things happen and to not take it personally like the time my computer crashed as I was trying to print my 25-page end of the semester paper due that morning. I wish my professor had had the same philosophy.
One of the things that I’ve seen change in my lifetime is our ability to not take things so personally when things don’t work out as we’d hoped or planned. Perhaps it is because of technology and our misperception that we are in charge of everything, that we are in control of all the elements and moments of our lives. We’re responsible for our lives, but we cannot control all the elements around us nor the decisions of others. Sometimes, bad things happen and no one person is to blame. This is compounded somewhat by modern technology.
So, bottom line, the emails you received yesterday that made no sense and appeared to come from me were not from me and I apologize for the nuisance. But being the person I am that tries to find something of value even in mistakes, I decided to use it as my topic for today to remind all of us who are trying to find our way along His Way that there will be bumps, there will be ruts, there will be hazards and there will be setback. Let us commit to seek the help of the Spirit in discerning how to meet the challenge and persevere for love of the LORD and love of one another.
Until tomorrow, let us all love well.
