The Son’s Light (04/16/2026)

Last night during the last round of storms to come through, I did what I do that they tell us not to do, I went and sat outside to watch and tried to listen and look for signs of perilous weather coming. As I sat in the total darkness, I spotted a light in the neighborhood, four houses down. I honed my sights in on it. It was flickering. My first thought was a fire. But then I watched it and it was too uniform. Finally, I recognized it as a yard solar light that shone like a tiki light. It was running off the power of the day’s sunshine that was invisible to us then. And the words came to mind, “Let my light shine before men.”
And I chuckled out loud. LORD, You are amazing. You found a way to message me in my hour of darkness and fear using a yard solar light and my imagination. As I continued to watch the tiki light flicker, I felt a tug, and invitation, if you will, to absorb Christ’s light through scripture and prayer and to be His “tiki light” in my family and neighborhood and wider community. I felt called to bring Him and His light.
As believers, even though we aren’t perfect and we aren’t the Son Himself, we can be instruments of His light in this world, in our world, in our moments with others. We can bring the Son’s light to moments, to conversations, even to silence.
As we continue our journeys in faith, hope and love, let us open ourselves to Christ fully daily, recharge on His light from prayer and scripture, and be willing to let His light live through us.
Until tomorrow, let us all love well.
