LECTIO - Read Scripture Text: 1 Peter 5:5b-14
Be clothed with humility because God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your worries upon Him, for He cares for you.
Be sober, be vigilant, because the devil, your adversary, walks about like a roaring lion seeking prey he may devour. Steadfastly resist in faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your sisters and brothers in the world. But the God of all grace who has called us into His eternal glory by Christ Jesus will make you perfect, strengthen you and establish you after you have suffered a little. To Him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Today’s first reading brings us the conclusion of the 1st Letter of Peter to the worldwide Christians calling us to humility, vigilance and trust in the LORD even in our sufferings.
ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:
Loving and Gracious LORD, Almighty Father, we turn to You in all humility, in awe of your power and presence, manifestations of your love for us, and we ask for the guidance and grace of your Holy Spirit as we journey in faith as the disciples of Christ Jesus. Strengthen our resolve especially during trying times so that we might follow closely in His footsteps. We ask this in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Spirit, one LORD, forever and ever. Amen.
CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
