Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: September 21,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text:   Ephesians 4:1-7, 11-13

I, a prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk in a manner worthy of the call you received, with humility and meekness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit even as you are called to the one hope of your calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.

But grace was given to each of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift.

And he called some to be apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, until we all come into the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.

MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:

Do I constantly and intentionally work to maintain the foundational unity within the Body of Christ? Am I an agent of unity or an instrument of division?

BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:

In today’s first reading, Paul calls us to holiness, to the life we are called to live in our LORD without contentions that lead to the division of the Body of Christ. One and all are held in perfect tension, unity and diversity; though we are diverse we are called to be united in our LORD.

ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:

LORD, Almighty Father, your will is that we will live a life worthy of the call we have received, to be united in our faith, in our hope, and in our love for You and for one another. Send your Spirit to bless and guide us so that we might strive always and everywhere to work for unity with one another as we follow in the footsteps of your beloved and only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Grant that we may value the bond of peace, of unity and wholeness, as we work toward holiness. Help us to acknowledge the gifts of one another as we endeavor to build up the Body of Christ here on earth. Amen.
