LECTIO - Read Scripture Text: Matthew 11:25-30
“I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to the childlike. Even so, Father, it has seemed good in your sight. All things are delivered to me by my Father. No one knows the Son, except the Father. Neither does one know the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.
“Come to me, all you that labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am meek and humble of heart, and you shall find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:
BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:
In today’s gospel reading, Jesus reminds us of the necessity of humble openness to the LORD’s will and divine design. And Jesus invites us to “come to me” for rest and peace.
ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:
Lord, Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I bring my life, my concerns, my hopes, my fears. I bring them to You and give them to You. I seek to walk with You, to take your yoke extended to me in your love. Grant that I may truly surrender to You, your wisdom, your love for the Father and for me. Amen.
CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
