Daily Scripture Reflection & Prayer: September 22,2026

LECTIO - Read Scripture Text:   Luke 8:19-21

The mother of Jesus and his brethren came to him but were unable to join him because of the crowd. He was told, “Your mother and your brethren are standing outside, and they desire to see you.” He said to them in reply, “My mother and my brethren are those who hear the word of God and do it.”

MEDITATIO - Meditate on text, allow the LORD to touch us with His Word:

How well am I tuning in to the word of God? Am I allowing it to transform me so that I “do it”?

BREAKING OPEN THE TEXT:

In today’s short gospel text, Jesus reminds us that the relationship that matters most in this life if our relationship with our LORD, drawing close enough in awe to hear the word of God, and trusting deeply enough in that word to do whatever is necessary to act on that word.

ORATIO – Lifting our minds and hearts to the LORD in prayer:

LORD, Jesus Christ, Son of God, my Savior, Word of God made flesh, You call me to be your disciple, to walk in your footsteps, to abide by your teachings, to follow your example. But most of all, You call me to listen to the Word of God and to act upon it. Send the Spirit to help me move from passive follower to active doer, to living You and your love out loud, to trusting the word and will of the Father as Mary, and to give my full “Yes.” Amen.

CONTEMPLATIO – Sitting with the LORD in silence for a minute or more
